SSC JE Notification Out: Important Dates and Exam Details

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has recently released the Junior Engineer (JE) recruitment notification on 26.07.2023, inviting applications for various engineering positions. Important Dates

The application process for the SSC JE recruitment begins on 26th July 2023 and will continue until 16th August 2023 (23:00 hours). Candidates must ensure they submit their applications within this period. Additionally, there is a window for application form correction and online payment of correction charges from 17th August 2023 to 18th August 2023 (23:00 hours).

Exam Schedule

The examination will be conducted in two papers, namely Paper-I and Paper-II. The Computer Based Examination (Paper-I) for SSC JE is tentatively scheduled for October 2023.

Exam Structure

Let’s take a closer look at the exam structure and the topics covered in each paper:

Paper-I

  • The candidates will attempt the General Engineering part (Part-A, Part-B, or Part-C) based on their educational qualification, as chosen in the online application form.
    • Part-A (Civil & Structural): For candidates applying for the post of Junior Engineer (Civil).
    • Part-B (Electrical): For candidates applying for the post of Junior Engineer (Electrical).
    • Part-C (Mechanical): For candidates applying for the post of Junior Engineer (Mechanical).
  • The Paper-I will consist of Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
  • There will be 200 questions for a duration of 2 hours which totals to 200 marks.
  • Questions will be set in both Hindi and English.
  • Negative marking: One-third of the marks allotted to the question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Paper-II

  • Paper-II is exclusively for candidates who have qualified Paper-I for Junior Engineer (JE) posts in the Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical disciplines.
  • It will also be an Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) paper.
  • There will be 100 questions for a duration of 2 hours which totals to 300 marks
  • Candidates are allowed to bring their own Slide–Rule, Calculator, Logarithm Table, and Steam Table for Paper-II only. However, such aids are not allowed for Paper-I.
  • Like Paper-I, questions will be set in Hindi and English in all parts.
  • Negative marking: One-third of the marks allotted to the question will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Normalization of Scores
