The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB), Chandigarh, has released its Annual Calendar for 2024. This calendar outlines the recruitment process for various posts and provides the months in which centralised recruitment notifications will be released.

Key Dates

According to the RRB recruitment annual calendar:

  • The notification for the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) post will be released between January to March 2024.
  • The recruitment notification for RRB Technicians will be released from April to June.
  • The recruitment notification for RRB Junior Engineer will be released from July to September 2024.

RRB JE Eligibility Criteria

or those interested in the Junior Engineer (JE) positions, here are the key eligibility criteria:

Age Limit: Candidates must be in the age group of 18-33 years. Age relaxation is offered to candidates who come from select categories

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have a Diploma/Degree in Engineering related to the post they are applying for.
  • Nationality: Various Nationalities/Citizenships are allowed on meeting certain conditions.
    • You are a citizen of India
    • You are a subject of Nepal
    • You are a subject of Bhutan
    • You are a Tibetan refugee who had migrated to India before 01/01/1962.
    • You are a person of Indian origin who has migrated to India from countries such as Burma, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, East African Countries of Zambia, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zaire, Malawi, Ethiopia & Vietnam. 

Selection Process

  • The selection process for the RRB JE post involves four stages:

    1. Stage 1: Computer-Based Test I
    2. Stage 2: Computer-Based Test II
    3. Stage 3: Document Verification
    4. Stage 4: Medical Examination

RRB JE CBT I - Exam Pattern

RRB JE CBT II - Exam Pattern

  • The RRB JE CBT 2 exam pattern is as follows:

    • The exam consists of a total of 150 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying 1 mark.
    • The subjects covered in RRB JE CBT 2 include:
    • General Awareness
    • Physics & Chemistry
    • Basics of Computers and Applications
    • Basics of Environment and Pollution Control
    • Technical Abilities.
    • The duration of the exam is 120 minutes.
    • There is a negative marking of 1/3 marks for each incorrect answer.

    Please note that this is based on previous year data and the exact pattern may vary slightly. The official notification is yet to be released. 

RRB JE SALARY

  • The salary structure for the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Junior Engineer (JE) is quite attractive. Here are the details:

     

    • Basic Pay: The basic pay of an RRB JE is Rs. 35,400 per month as per the 7th pay commission.
    • During Training: A RRB JE employee receives a salary of Rs. 34,500 during the training period3.
    • After Training: After the completion of the training period, employees will receive a salary of Rs. 42,000 per month.
    • In addition to the basic pay, there are numerous benefits, such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and Transport Allowance4. The salary will also depend upon the location of posting.
