ISRO SCIENTIST- ENGINEER PREPARATION STRATEGIES

ISRO has recently published a notification regarding the recruitment of scientist engineers to various posts in India’s prestigious space and research organization. Total (65+303) posts are vacant out of which 39 posts belong to Civil Engineering.

What makes ISRO-SCIENTIST ENGINEER more attractive?

ISRO is one of India’s Top Prestigious Institutions. Once you become a  Scientist Engineer in ISRO you are now a Group-A Gazetted Officer with a pay scale of Level-10. Prestigious job with a lucrative salary and a good career growth makes ISRO – SCIENTIST so special.

What are the Eligibility Criterias?

You must graduate in civil engineering with a CGPA of minimum 6.84 or with a minimum aggregate of 65% marks.

Maximum Age limit is 28 years.

How is the recruitment done?

There are two stages in the selection process. First one is a written test and those who qualify will be called for an Interview process and at last a final selection list will be published by the ISRO.

In the written test you are supposed to attempt 80 questions with each question carrying 3 marks. Questions are generally easy-moderate in level testing your knowledge in Civil Engineering and basics of Engineering Mathematics. Questions will cover almost all subjects of Civil Engineering along with Engineering Mathematics. With proper preparation one can easily qualify the written test. In a ratio of 1:10 selected candidates will be called for an Interview which is out of 100 marks. A general candidate must score a minimum of 50% and a reserved category student has to score at least 40% in an interview. After the interview process ISRO will publish the final selected candidates list

How to prepare?

First task is to qualify the preliminary written test. For that you need to study All civil engineering subjects of (Btech) level and Engineering mathematics. Syllabus is similar to that of GATE. Since the competition is too high you are not supposed to skip any topics. Try to do as many mock tests and test series. Give more time to the topics you feel are difficult. Try to solve problems without using calculators since you’re not allowed to carry it in the examination hall. Engineering mathematics is also important in the case of ISRO examination. You must allot sufficient time for its preparation also. Since the examination carries negative marks also avoid marking answers for the questions which you’re not sure of.
