Draftsman Grade 2 Eligibility

Applicants must meet both the basic educational requirement and the technical qualification requirement.

Basic Educational Qualification

Candidates must have either:

Technical Qualification

Candidates must also possess either:

  • Survey Recorder Class II qualification from the Hydrographic Survey Branch of the Indian Navy; or

  • A Diploma in Civil Engineering issued by the Government of Kerala or a recognised Board of Public Examination.

An SSLC pass alone does not satisfy the stated eligibility requirements.

Candidates claiming an equivalent qualification must produce the relevant government order proving equivalency at the verification stage.

Preferential Experience

The notification lists experience in a reputed drawing office, preferably connected with chart drawing, as a preferential qualification.

The institutions recognised for issuing chart-drawing experience certificates include:

  • Hydrographic Survey Wing of the Government of Kerala.

  • Survey Organisation of the Ministry of Transport, Government of India.

  • Hydrographic Survey Organisations of maritime states in India.

  • Hydrographic Survey Organisations of major ports in India.

Candidates claiming experience must enter the required details in their profile and upload the prescribed experience certificate before submitting their application. The experience must have been gained after acquiring the basic academic qualification.

The notification separately states that experience will not be insisted upon for SC/ST candidates and that candidates selected under this provision must acquire the required experience after recruitment.
