Important Dates for ESE Exam

Eligibility:

Nationality: Candidates must be:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, or East African countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Age Limit:

  • Candidates must be between 21 and 30 years old as of 1st January 2025 (born between 2nd January 1995 and 1st January 2004).
  • Age relaxation is available for certain categories:
    • Up to 35 years for Government servants.
    • Up to 5 years for SC/ST candidates.
    • Up to 3 years for OBC candidates.
    • Additional relaxations for Defence Services personnel and Ex-servicemen.

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have:

  • A degree in Engineering from a recognized university, or
  • Passed Sections A and B of the Institution Examinations of the Institution of Engineers (India), or
  • Obtained a degree/diploma in Engineering from a foreign university recognized by the Government, or
  • Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (India), or
  • Passed Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III/Sections A and B of the Aeronautical Society of India, or
  • Passed Graduate Membership Examination of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London (post-November 1959).

How to Apply for ESE Exam

Candidates must apply online through the UPSC Online Application Portal. First-time applicants need to register on the One Time Registration (OTR) platform. Once registered, candidates can proceed to fill out the application form for the ESE 2025 exam.

Modification in OTR Profile: Candidates can modify their OTR profile once in their lifetime within 7 days after the closure of the application window for their first final application for any UPSC examination.

Application Fee

  • General/OBC Candidates: ₹200
  • Female/SC/ST/PwBD Candidates: Exempted from fee

Exam Pattern:
